Bethesda Senior Living Communities (BSLC) is pleased to announce it has presented its 2016 Phil Borsom Customer Service Award to Gina McAuley, Director of Maintenance at The Gardens of Springfield, Missouri. This award recognizes one employee annually for demonstrating our organization’s SERVANT values.
“Gina exemplifies Bethesda’s value of service as much as anyone I can think of,” said Denise Eleiott, Executive Director for The Gardens. “The world can be crashing down around her, and she will smile right through it.”
Eleiott shared a story of how McAuley approaches her work and Bethesda residents, which embodies the spirit of service.
“One resident had a very small concern and said to Gina, ‘I hate to bother you because I know you’re busy.’ Gina’s reply was, ‘I hate to hear that because it means you have a need that’s gone unmet.’ Gina is always thinking about our residents, and is never too busy to make sure we’re delivering inspired service.”
McAuley has been with The Gardens for nine years. She began as a temporary worker to help with a specific cleanup project, and the previous director saw something unique in her and hired her full-time, where she eventually became the Director of Maintenance for Bethesda’s largest community.
BSLC leadership presented the Phil Borsom Customer Service Award to McAuley on March 7th. The Gardens hosted a reception to recognize her commitment to the organization’s SERVANT values. Employees strive to be Stewards of Life, offer Enrichment, give Respect, be Virtuous, provide Advocacy and be Nurturing.
“Gina excels at selfless service, with the needs of our residents first and foremost in her mind,” said Eleiott. “I am proud, honored and very blessed to be on Gina’s team and to have nominated her for this prestigious award.”
